Immunoglobulin heavy joining 2 (IGHJ2) is a gene segment that encodes one of the human immunoglobulin heavy chain joining (J) regions involved in V(D)J recombination during the assembly of immunoglobulin heavy chain genes in B cells[1][2]. It contributes a short peptide sequence that connects variable (V), diversity (D), and the constant (C) regions in antibodies. IGHJ2 is not a protein-coding gene in the conventional sense and does not constitute an independent, druggable target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor. Its primary biological role is in the generation of B cell receptor and antibody diversity, not direct mediation of signaling or other therapeutic target functions. The IGH locus, which includes IGHJ2, is on chromosome 14q32.2 and is essential to the creation of the adaptive immune repertoire[1][7][2]. Because IGHJ2 is a gene segment and not a canonical therapeutic target or stand-alone functional protein, it is not considered a pharmacological target itself.
