The IGHV3-15 gene is expressed as part of the immunoglobulin complex and is located within the highly polymorphic IGH locus on chromosome 14[1][2]. During humoral immune responses, the variable domain encoded by IGHV3-15 pairs with the variable domain of the light chain to form the antigen binding site of antibodies, allowing precise recognition and neutralization of antigens[2][3][5]. Allelic variation within IGHV3-15 and other IGHV genes can affect binding affinity, specificity, and susceptibility to diseases, such as lymphoma or infections[1][4]. IGHV3-15 is thus a critical genetic determinant underlying the diversity and specificity of the human antibody repertoire, though not considered a drug target itself[2][3][5].
