Immunoglobulin heavy variable 3-30-2 (IGHV3-30-2) is a gene segment encoding one of the variable domains of the heavy chain in immunoglobulins (antibodies). The variable domain, generated through V(D)J recombination, combines with adjacent diversity (D) and joining (J) segments to form the antigen-binding site, allowing for a highly diverse antibody repertoire. IGHV3-30-2 is a member of a large family of variable gene segments at the immunoglobulin heavy-chain locus; homologs such as IGHV3-30 and IGHV3-33 exist with high sequence similarity[2]. Its product is not a standalone receptor or therapeutic drug target, but a genetic building block that allows B cells to generate a wide variety of antibodies, enabling the adaptive immune system to detect and neutralize diverse antigens[1][2][3]. Unlike canonical drug targets, IGHV3-30-2 has no direct small-molecule modulators or therapeutic interventions, although antibodies encoded using these segments may have importance in individual immune responses, such as during viral infection[2].
