Immunoglobulin heavy variable 4-61 (IGHV4-61)

Immunoglobulin heavy variable 4-61 (IGHV4-61) is a variable (V) gene segment within the immunoglobulin heavy chain (IGH) locus on human chromosome 14q32.33[1][6]. It encodes the V region of the heavy chain in antibodies, which forms part of the antigen binding site together with the light chain variable region[5][6][3]. As a variable gene segment, IGHV4-61 undergoes somatic recombination with diversity (D) and joining (J) gene segments during B-cell development, enabling the immune system to generate a vast diversity of antibodies for recognition of pathogens[1][2][5].
