Immunoglobulin kappa constant is the constant domain of the kappa-type light chain of human antibodies, encoded by the IGKC gene. It forms part of the immunoglobulin molecule produced by B lymphocytes and does not participate in antigen binding directly, but stabilizes the antibody structure and supports antibody function in the immune response. The constant region is identical in all kappa light chains and is crucial for the effector functions of secreted antibodies in humoral immunity, such as antigen clearance and immune complex formation. Measurement of kappa light chains is clinically important as a marker for conditions like multiple myeloma and other B cell malignancies, but the IGKC itself does not serve as a direct therapeutic target
