During B cell development, IGKJ1 participates in V-(D)-J recombination, contributing to the diversity of antibody antigen recognition sites[1][2][3]. As part of the immunoglobulin kappa locus, it helps form the junction between the variable and constant regions of the kappa light chain. IGKJ1 is not a protein that acts as a classical receptor, enzyme, or transporter; it is one of several joining segments involved in generating the mature immunoglobulin kappa light chain. The functional product is incorporated into the antigen-binding portion of antibodies but is not itself a direct target for pharmacological intervention[1][3][5].
