Immunoglobulin kappa variable 1D-13 is the V (variable) region of the light chain of immunoglobulins (antibodies), participating in antigen recognition. It is a structural component of the immunoglobulin complex produced by B lymphocytes. Immunoglobulin variable domains confer specificity to antibody-antigen binding, enabling the humoral immune response. This gene encodes only the variable domain, with its biological function limited to enabling antigen recognition through formation of the antibody binding site. The protein is expressed as part of membrane-bound or secreted immunoglobulins and not as an independent functional receptor or enzyme. There is no evidence for direct targeting by drugs or use as a therapeutic target[1][2][3][5][7][11].
