Immunoglobulin kappa variable 2-14 is a variable (V) gene segment in the human immunoglobulin kappa locus, which encodes a portion of the variable domain of kappa light chains in antibodies. The kappa variable regions are critical for the diverse antigen-binding specificity of antibodies, accomplished through somatic recombination (joining V, J, and constant segments). IGKV2-14 is one member of a multigene family, and its usage in B cells contributes to the diversity of the antibody repertoire. Aberrant rearrangement or mutation of IGKV segments is associated with certain hematological malignancies but is not a therapeutic drug target by itself[2]. If structured information for antibody chains themselves, rather than functional proteins, is desired, note that these gene segments are not conventionally catalogued as "drug targets" in pharmacological databases. The clinical relevance is primarily in diagnostics (clonality analysis in hematology) and in antibody engineering[2].
