Immunoglobulin kappa variable 2D-36 (pseudogene) (IGKV2D-36) is a gene segment found within the immunoglobulin kappa light chain locus on human chromosome 2 (2p11.2), classified as a pseudogene[6][8][2]. It encodes a variable (V) region segment of the immunoglobulin kappa light chain gene, but due to its pseudogene status, IGKV2D-36 is not functionally expressed as a protein and does not contribute directly to antibody diversity or immune response[8][2]. The immunoglobulin variable region genes are normally involved in generating the immense diversity of antibody specificities via V(D)J recombination in B cells, but pseudogenes such as IGKV2D-36 have lost their protein-coding potential due to mutations or truncations[9][2]. IGKV2D-36 is tracked primarily in genomic and immunogenetics databases for research and does not have known disease roles, clinical biomarkers, direct drug interactions, or known therapeutic targeting[8][6][2].
