Immunoglobulin kappa variable 3-15 is a variable domain segment of the kappa light chain in immunoglobulin (antibody) molecules, encoded by the IGKV3-15 gene. It participates in the formation of the antigen-binding site of antibodies, allowing specificity for a vast array of antigens via V(D)J recombination and somatic hypermutation. Its primary biological role is enabling antigen recognition, which is essential for the adaptive immune response by B lymphocytes. While the IGKV3-15 segment is an important contributor to antibody diversity, it is not considered a direct therapeutic target for drugs or biologics; rather, it is a component part of antibodies themselves. IGKV3-15 is not used clinically as a biomarker or therapeutic target.
