Immunoglobulin kappa variable 4-1 (IGKV4-1) is a variable (V) segment of the immunoglobulin kappa light chain, which forms part of the antigen-binding site of immunoglobulins (antibodies)[1][2][4]. It contributes to the enormous diversity of antibody specificity in humoral immunity by enabling the recognition and binding of a vast variety of antigens[1][2][4]. The variable domains of immunoglobulins are formed by recombination and somatic hypermutation, further enhancing their antigen specificity[2]. IGKV4-1 is produced by B lymphocytes and is not itself a therapeutic target, but rather a component of the immunoglobulin molecules used physiologically for antigen recognition[2][4]. IGKV4-1 has been studied in the context of certain diseases—such as cancers (where clonal immunoglobulin rearrangements can serve as biomarkers of B-cell malignancies), infections, and autoimmune diseases (where antibody diversity contributes to pathogenesis)—but it is not directly targeted by drugs[5].
