Immunoglobulin lambda constant 1 (IGLC1) encodes the constant region of the lambda light chain of immunoglobulin molecules, a structural component of antibodies produced by B lymphocytes[1][5]. Immunoglobulin molecules are composed of two heavy and two light chains (either kappa or lambda); the constant region determines the class and effector functions of the light chain in the immune complex[6]. IGLC1 is not a traditional drug target or receptor but is clinically relevant due to its use as a biomarker in diagnosing and monitoring B cell expansions and plasma cell dyscrasias, such as multiple myeloma and AL amyloidosis[5]. Its detection as a monoclonal protein is important for identifying clonal proliferative diseases of B cells. IGLC1 does not have a recognized role as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor, and no approved drugs interact directly with this constant region[5][6].
