Immunoglobulin lambda constant 2 (IGLC2) is the constant region of the lambda light chain of human antibodies[1][2][5][6]. Immunoglobulins consist of two heavy chains and two light chains (lambda or kappa), and the constant region determines the isotype and effector function of the antibody. IGLC2 is essential for forming the structure of immunoglobulins produced by B lymphocytes, mediating antigen recognition (in combination with variable regions) and the effector functions of antibodies during the immune response[1][2][5][6]. It is not a traditional drug target (such as a receptor or enzyme) but plays a central role in immune defense by being part of secreted and membrane-bound antibodies[1][2][5][6]. Abnormal rearrangements or overexpression can serve as biomarkers in B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders, and the region is leveraged in research and diagnostics for immune monitoring and disease.[4]
