Immunoglobulin lambda constant 6 is the constant region of a lambda-type immunoglobulin (antibody) light chain. It encodes one of several constant region (C) gene segments in the immunoglobulin lambda locus, expressed as part of B-cell receptor or antibody molecules produced by B lymphocytes. The constant region provides structural support and determines the isotype of the antibody light chain but does not contribute to antigen specificity, which is dictated by the variable region. IGLC6 is predicted to have antigen binding activity as part of a complete immunoglobulin. This gene is reported to be a pseudogene or gene/pseudogene and does not independently encode a functional protein in all transcripts. Immunoglobulins are essential for humoral immunity, but this particular constant region is not a therapeutic target, receptor, or enzyme, and no drugs are known to target IGLC6 directly[2][3][7].
