Overview

Immunoglobulin lambda-like polypeptide 4, pseudogene (IGLL4P) is a nonfunctional segment of human DNA related to immunoglobulin lambda-like family members, but it does not produce a functional protein due to disabling genetic mutations such as premature stop codons or frameshifts[1][2][3][8]. Like other immunoglobulin lambda pseudogenes, it is one of several similar DNA sequences found in the region of chromosome 22 housing immunoglobulin lambda complex genes, most of which are involved in B cell receptor diversity and immune function[3][5]. IGLL4P itself is considered a pseudogene, meaning it has sequence similarity to functional genes but is not transcribed into a functional protein. Pseudogenes like IGLL4P may rarely have residual regulatory roles (e.g. via RNA interference or miRNA decoy effects)[6][8], but there are no reported biomedical functions, disease associations, or therapeutic applications for IGLL4P. Key points: - IGLL4P is *not* a therapeutic target, nor is it functionally expressed. - Its designation as a "pseudogene" means it cannot encode a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar functional protein[1][2][8]. - No disease associations, drug interactions, biomarker roles, or safety concerns are established for IGLL4P.

Biological functions

Other (Pseudogenes generally do not encode functional protein, but can occasionally have "regulatory" effects by acting as "microRNA decoys" or affecting gene expression in rare cases[6][8]. However, no specific biological function is described for IGLL4P.)
03

Disease associations

Other (No known disease associations for IGLL4P. In rare cases, some pseudogenes can act as regulators in cancers or other diseases[6], but no evidence for this for IGLL4P.)
