Immunoglobulin lambda variable 1-51 (IGLV1-51) encodes the variable region of the lambda light chain found in immunoglobulin molecules, also known as antibodies[1][2][4][7][8]. This variable region participates directly in antigen binding, constituting one half of the antibody’s antigen-binding site, with the other half provided by the heavy chain variable region[1][4][7]. In B lymphocytes, the assembly of various V (variable), J (joining), and C (constant) gene segments generates the diversity required for the immune system to recognize a vast array of antigens[3][5]. IGLV1-51 is not a typical pharmacological target, as its principal biological role is as a segment used in immunoglobulin gene rearrangement, contributing to antibody diversity and the adaptive immune response. Mutations or rearrangements in these gene segments can be found in B cell malignancies, and their immunoglobulin gene rearrangements may be used for clonality assessment in clinical diagnostics, but not as direct therapeutic targets[1][3][5].
