Immunoglobulin lambda variable 2-14 (IGLV2-14) encodes the variable domain of the lambda light chain in human immunoglobulins. This region contributes to the formation of the antigen-binding site, enabling antibodies to recognize and bind to a diverse range of antigens. It is produced by B lymphocytes and is essential for adaptive immune responses. The variable domains of immunoglobulins are created through genetic recombination, generating antibody diversity. Abnormalities in immunoglobulin gene rearrangements can be associated with certain cancers, particularly of lymphoid cells, and autoimmune conditions. However, IGLV2-14 itself is not used as a direct drug target, but the antibodies that include it may be studied or engineered for therapeutic or diagnostic purposes.
