Immunoglobulin lambda variable 3-12 (IGLV3-12) is a human immunoglobulin lambda light chain variable region gene[1][5], found on chromosome 22q11.2[1][5]. Its product constitutes the variable domain of the antibody light chain and serves as one half of the antigen-binding site, paired with a variable heavy chain domain[3][2][6]. This domain is generated through V-J recombination during B lymphocyte development, contributing to the immense diversity of antibodies in the adaptive immune system[2][1]. IGLV3-12 itself is a genomic segment used to form immunoglobulin lambda light chains and does not act as a receptor, therapeutic target, enzyme, or transporter. Dysfunction or abnormal recombination involving immunoglobulin lambda variable region genes, including IGLV3-12, can be associated with lymphoid malignancies such as leukemia or lymphoma[1]. There are no known drugs that directly target IGLV3-12; its role is mainly structural and informational for antibody diversity. Its main biological function pertains to immune recognition and response[2][3][6].
