Immunoglobulin lambda variable 3-13 (IGLV3-13) is a member of the immunoglobulin lambda variable gene family in humans that encodes one of the variable regions of lambda light chains in immunoglobulins (antibodies)[5]. The variable region is assembled through V-J-C recombination in B cells, forming part of the antigen-binding site of immunoglobulins. This process produces antibody diversity, enabling specificity in recognizing pathogens and initiating immune responses. IGLV3-13's function is limited to its role in antibody assembly and is not associated with direct drug targeting, disease-specific risk, or therapeutic interventions[2][5]. IGLV3-13 should not be confused with immunoglobulin heavy variable segments (e.g., IGHV3-13), which encode parts of the heavy chain. It is neither a receptor nor enzyme but part of a genetic system providing antibody diversity[5].
