Immunoglobulin lambda variable 3-19 is a gene encoding the variable region of the lambda chain of immunoglobulins (antibody molecules). This segment contributes to the formation of the antigen-binding site in antibodies, which is essential for the specific recognition of pathogens and initiation of adaptive immune responses. As part of the variable domain, IGLV3-19 undergoes V(D)J recombination in B cells, providing diversity to the antibody repertoire through somatic hypermutation and affinity maturation. The protein is secreted as part of immunoglobulin molecules produced by B lymphocytes and operates extracellularly, enabling effective elimination of antigens during the humoral immune response
