Immunoglobulin lambda variable 3-2 is a genetic locus classified as a pseudogene, originating from the variable region of immunoglobulin lambda light chains. Unlike functional immunoglobulin variable region genes, pseudogenes such as IGLV3-2 do not produce active protein products and result from gene duplication events and mutations that abrogate coding capacity. The immunoglobulin lambda locus contains multiple functional and nonfunctional (pseudogene) segments, which collectively contribute to the complexity of human antibody gene diversity. IGLV3-2 has no known role as a receptor, enzyme, or therapeutic target, nor does it participate directly in immune response or diseases.
