Immunoglobulin lambda variable 3-22 (IGLV3-22) is a gene encoding the variable region of the lambda light chain of human immunoglobulins (antibodies)[1][3]. The protein product is part of the variable domain of the antibody light chain, responsible for antigen binding specificity. It participates in the V(D)J recombination process during B cell development, enabling large diversity in antibody recognition. The primary biological role of IGLV3-22 is in the humoral immune response, where, as part of the immunoglobulin molecule, it binds foreign antigens and initiates immune effector functions. It resides in the variable region for lambda chains located at chromosome 22q11.2[3]. IGLV3-22 is not considered a direct therapeutic target (such as an enzyme, transporter, or receptor), but its products are essential components of natural immune function and may be indirectly involved in some diseases via immune dysregulation[1][3].
