Immunoglobulin lambda variable 3-25 is a human gene segment encoding one of the variable regions (V regions) of the lambda chain of immunoglobulins (antibodies). This segment, IGLV3-25, contributes to generating the vast diversity of antibodies through somatic recombination with other immunoglobulin gene segments in B cells. The variable (V) regions encode the antigen-binding domain of antibodies, allowing for specific antigen recognition crucial to adaptive immunity. IGLV3-25 is one of several functional IGLV3 subgroup genes located on chromosome 22 and is involved in the normal immune repertoire. It is not a classical "therapeutic target" (like a receptor or enzyme); rather, it is a genetic component of endogenous antibodies, although its usage or mutation profile can serve as a marker in some hematological malignancies[2][1].
