Immunoglobulin lambda variable 3-7 is a gene encoding one of the variable domains of the immunoglobulin lambda light chain. This gene is located in the immunoglobulin lambda locus on chromosome 22q11.2 and encodes a segment that contributes to the antigen-binding site through V(D)J recombination in B cells. The lambda light chains are one of two types of immunoglobulin light chains in humans (the other being kappa), and their variable domains provide sequence diversity essential for the adaptive immune response.
