Immunoglobulin lambda variable 5-45 is a gene segment encoding the variable (V) domain of the light chain in antibodies. This domain participates in the formation of the antigen-binding site, together with the variable domain from the heavy chain, enabling antibodies to recognize a wide array of antigens. The immunoglobulin variable region genes undergo V-(D)-J rearrangement and somatic hypermutation, generating antibody diversity vital for humoral immunity. IGLV5-45 resides in the immunoglobulin lambda locus on chromosome 22 (22q11.2) and is expressed in B lymphocytes[1][2][4][5][7][8]. While essential for immune recognition, it is not considered a conventional therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or transporter.
