Immunoglobulin lambda variable 7-46 (IGLV7-46) is a protein-coding gene that encodes the variable region of the lambda light chain in immunoglobulins (antibodies). The variable region participates directly in antigen recognition, forming part of the antigen-binding site when paired with a heavy chain variable region. Immunoglobulins are essential components of the adaptive immune response and are produced by B lymphocytes. The diversity of the antigen-binding site is generated through DNA recombination (V-J joining for lambda light chain genes) and somatic hypermutation. Although every antibody molecule contains variable domains like IGLV7-46, these domains themselves are not drug targets, but rather gene segments contributing to antibody diversity[1][2][4]. IGLV7-46 does not encode a cell surface receptor, enzyme, or signaling protein that would make it a classic therapeutic target[1][2].
