Immunoglobulin-like Transcript 2 (ILT2)

Target
ILT2
Molecular classification
Leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptor (LILR), Receptor
01

Overview

Immunoglobulin-like transcript 2 (ILT2) is an inhibitory immune receptor expressed on a variety of immune cells, including subsets of T cells, natural killer (NK) cells, B cells, and monocytes. It plays a significant role in regulating immune responses by dampening the activation and cytotoxic functions of these cells. The primary ligands are classical and non-classical MHC class I molecules, with highest affinity for HLA-G. ILT2 engagement leads to recruitment of phosphatases such as SHP-1 via ITIM motifs, resulting in negative signaling.

Mechanism of action

Antibody-mediated blockade restores cytolytic capacity of exhausted/inhibited NK or T cells. Lenalidomide modulates ligand expression.
