B-cell receptors (BCRs) specific for the Streptococcus pneumoniae type 7F polysaccharide antigen are immunoglobulin molecules expressed on the surface of B lymphocytes. Upon encountering their respective antigen, these BCRs mediate recognition and binding of the 7F capsular polysaccharide, triggering B-cell activation, clonal expansion, and production of antibodies. The BCR repertoire against this antigen is highly diverse due to V(D)J recombination and somatic hypermutation. These BCRs play a crucial role in host defense by facilitating the adaptive immune response to S. pneumoniae infection and are the molecular basis for antibody production after vaccination with 7F polysaccharide-containing vaccines[2][3].
