Immunoglobulin superfamily member 2 (CD101) is a cell surface glycoprotein primarily expressed on immune cells, where it functions to inhibit CD3-induced T-cell proliferation, downregulate the expression of the interleukin-2 receptor alpha (IL2RA) on activated T-cells, and reduce IL2 secretion[1][5]. CD101 is part of the immunoglobulin superfamily and acts as an immune regulatory protein, with roles described in inflammatory and autoimmune processes, including a possible involvement in rheumatoid arthritis pathology[7]. The protein is broadly expressed in human tissues, especially immune tissues such as the thymus, spleen, lymph node, as well as in other organs[4][3]. The molecule is not currently linked to approved interacting drugs or assigned a well-characterized safety profile, but its role in immune modulation makes it a potential target for immunotherapies and biomarker research[1][7].
