Immunomodulation via anti-inflammatory cytokine release refers to the process where immune cell function and inflammatory responses are regulated by the release of cytokines with immunosuppressive and inflammation-resolving activities. Key anti-inflammatory cytokines include interleukin-10 (IL-10), interleukin-4 (IL-4), interleukin-13 (IL-13), and transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β), produced by various immune cells such as macrophages, regulatory T cells, and B cells. These cytokines act to suppress pro-inflammatory cytokine production, limit immune cell recruitment, and promote resolution of inflammation and tissue healing. This process is relevant in multiple diseases such as autoimmunity, allergy, chronic inflammation, and cancer but is not a single molecular target suitable for direct pharmacological intervention.
