Immunomodulatory cytokine receptors are a diverse group of cell surface and, in some cases, soluble receptors that bind cytokines—small proteins that serve as critical messengers in the immune system. They mediate the effects of cytokines by transducing signals that regulate inflammation, immune cell development, activation, differentiation, and survival. Major types include type I and II cytokine receptors (binding interleukins and interferons), TNF receptor superfamily (binding TNF and related proteins), chemokine receptors (G protein–coupled), immunoglobulin superfamily receptors, and serine/threonine kinase receptors (for TGF-beta). Their function makes them key targets in multiple immunological, autoimmune, and inflammatory diseases, as well as in cancer and infectious disease, often utilizing monoclonal antibodies, receptor antagonists, or small molecule inhibitors in therapy[2][3][1][4].
