01

Overview

Induced glycolysis in myeloid cells refers to the upregulation of glycolytic metabolic pathways within myeloid lineage immune cells (such as monocytes, macrophages, and myeloid-derived suppressor cells [MDSCs]) in response to inflammatory or tumor microenvironmental signals. This metabolic reprogramming is a hallmark of activated or pathologically altered myeloid cell states and plays a central role in modulating their function during inflammation, infection, cancer, and other disease contexts. Key regulators include HIF-1α, HK1/HK2, PKM2, and LDHA, as well as signaling via STAT3/STAT6/NF-kB. Targeting this pathway is being explored as a therapeutic strategy in inflammation, cancer, and sepsis.
