Inducible Caspase-9 (iCasp9)

Target
iCasp9
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Caspase, Apoptosis regulator, Fusion protein
01

Overview

Inducible caspase-9 (iCasp9) is a synthetic, engineered form of the human caspase-9 protein designed to function as a "suicide gene" in genetically modified cells. It is activated by small-molecule dimerizers (AP1903/Rimiducid or AP20187), resulting in rapid apoptosis. It is primarily used as a safety switch in adoptive immunotherapies such as CAR-T cell therapy to eliminate transduced cells in case of severe adverse events.
