Nitric oxide synthase 2 (NOS2), also known as inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), is an enzyme that catalyzes the production of nitric oxide (NO) from L-arginine. It is induced in response to inflammatory stimuli and plays a critical role in antimicrobial defense and immune responses. While important for host defense, its dysregulation can contribute to inflammatory diseases and has a complex role in cancer.
