Inflammation Mediator Inhibitor

An inflammation mediator inhibitor is a molecule or drug that interferes with the action or production of inflammatory mediators—substances produced by cells in response to injury, infection, or other harmful stimuli that drive the process of inflammation. By inhibiting these mediators, such agents can reduce or modulate the inflammatory response and are used therapeutically in various diseases characterized by excessive or chronic inflammation. Inflammatory mediators include a wide range of molecules such as cytokines (e.g., IL-1, TNF-α), chemokines, histamine, prostaglandins, leukotrienes, vasoactive amines (like serotonin), peptides (such as bradykinin), and acute-phase proteins.
