Overview

Inflammatory and vasoactive peptides and adhesion molecules represent a broad category of biochemical mediators and surface proteins essential for vascular homeostasis and immune system function [PMID: 15134370]. Vasoactive peptides, such as angiotensin II and endothelin, are primary regulators of systemic blood pressure and local blood flow through their effects on vascular smooth muscle [PMID: 10837461].
