Target intelligence / Profile preview
An inflammatory protein substrate is any protein that is specifically recognized and cleaved by inflammatory proteases (primarily the inflammatory caspases) during immune responses. Cleavage of these substrates leads to downstream effects such as cytokine maturation or induction of cell death pathways like pyroptosis. Well-known examples include Gasdermin D (GSDMD), Interleukin 1 beta (IL-1β), and Interleukin 18 (IL-18).
