The Influenza virus H7N1 antigen refers to the surface glycoproteins, primarily hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA), of the Influenza A virus subtype H7N1. It is a key target for immune responses, diagnostics, and vaccine development. H7N1 is primarily an avian influenza virus but can infect mammals. Vaccines targeting H7N1 induce antibodies against both head and stalk domains of HA, potentially offering broader protection. Key adaptive mutations in internal genes can facilitate airborne transmission among mammals.
Vaccines induce neutralizing antibodies against HA and NA. Neuraminidase inhibitors block viral release from infected cells.
