Influenza A virus mRNA refers to the messenger RNA molecules transcribed from the segmented, negative-sense RNA genome of influenza A virus. These mRNAs serve as templates for the synthesis of viral proteins within infected host cells. They are characterized by a 5' cap acquired via "cap-snatching", a 3' poly(A) tail generated through polymerase stuttering, and limited splicing. While not a direct drug target itself, its synthesis and processing are crucial for viral replication.
