Influenza B Hemagglutinin Antigen (HA)

Target
HA
Molecular classification
Glycoprotein, Viral protein, Surface antigen

Overview

Influenza B hemagglutinin (HA) is the major surface glycoprotein and principal antigen of the influenza B virus. It plays a critical role in viral entry by binding to host cell receptors and mediating membrane fusion, making it essential for infection and a primary target for neutralizing antibodies. HA exists as a homotrimer, with each monomer composed of two subunits: HA1 (membrane-distal, globular head) and HA2 (membrane-proximal, stem domain).
