The hemagglutinin (HA) of the Influenza B virus Yamagata lineage is a surface glycoprotein that mediates viral entry into host cells and is a primary antigenic determinant distinguishing this lineage. It is a major target for neutralizing antibodies and thus central to immune recognition and vaccine design. The Yamagata lineage is antigenically distinct, and while once included in quadrivalent vaccines, natural occurrences have been unconfirmed since March 2020.
