Influenza Virus Antigen

Molecular classification
Glycoprotein
01

Overview

Influenza virus antigens are the molecular components of the influenza virus recognized by the immune system. Key antigens include the surface glycoproteins hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA), which mediate viral entry and release, respectively, and are primary targets for neutralizing antibodies. Antigenic variability in HA and NA underlies the challenges in developing long-lasting immunity against influenza infections.
