Inhibition of Natural Killer Cell Proliferation (NK Cell Proliferation Inhibition)

Target
NK Cell Proliferation Inhibition
Molecular classification
Immune regulation, Cell signaling pathway
01

Overview

The inhibition of natural killer (NK) cell proliferation refers to the suppression or reduction in the ability of NK cells to multiply and expand. NK cells are critical components of the innate immune system, responsible for early defense against viral infections and tumor surveillance. Their proliferation is tightly regulated by a balance between activating and inhibitory signals, as well as by cytokines and interactions with other cell types. Key mediators include TGFβ, IFNα, KIRs/HLA-I interaction, and CD94/NKG2A-HLA-E interaction. Mesenchymal stem cells also contribute to inhibition. Understanding these pathways has therapeutic relevance in cancer immunotherapy and autoimmune/inflammatory diseases.
