Inhibitor of carbonic anhydrase pseudogene (INHCAP)

INHCAP (inhibitor of carbonic anhydrase pseudogene) is a human gene officially designated as a pseudogene by the HGNC and Ensembl[1][5][7]. Pseudogenes are stretches of DNA that closely resemble functional genes but usually lack the capacity to produce a functional protein product. INHCAP comes with synonyms such as TFP and TFP1[1][3]. There is no current evidence of biological activity, disease role, drug interaction, or therapeutic relevance assigned to INHCAP in available genetic databases or literature. Therefore, INHCAP is not a valid therapeutic target, and its inclusion as such would be considered incorrect[5][1].
