Injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) is a second-generation autologous blood-derived biomaterial used extensively in regenerative medicine [4, 6]. It is produced by centrifuging a patient's whole blood at low speeds without the use of anticoagulants, which preserves a liquid state rich in platelets, leukocytes, and fibrinogen [2, 10]. Once injected into the target tissue, it undergoes a natural polymerization process to form a three-dimensional fibrin scaffold [7, 11]. This matrix provides a sustained and gradual release of essential growth factors, such as VEGF and PDGF, over a period of up to 14 days, promoting angiogenesis and tissue repair [3, 10]. i-PRF is utilized in various clinical fields, including dentistry for bone grafting, orthopedics for joint repair, and dermatology for skin rejuvenation and hair restoration [5, 6, 14]. Its autologous nature ensures high biocompatibility and a low risk of allergic reactions or rejection [12, 13].
Injectable platelet-rich fibrin acts as a bioactive scaffold that provides a sustained release of growth factors (e.g., VEGF, PDGF, TGF-beta) and cytokines, which stimulate cell migration, proliferation, and differentiation for tissue repair [3, 7, 10].
