Overview

Innate and adaptive immune cells modulated by Advax-3 adjuvant refers to the complex network of immune cells that are activated and regulated by the Advax-3 adjuvant system. Advax-3 is a multi-component adjuvant platform developed by Vaxine Pty Ltd, typically consisting of delta-inulin (a unique crystalline polysaccharide) and a Toll-like receptor (TLR) agonist, such as a CpG oligonucleotide (Petrovsky, 2021). This formulation does not target a single molecular entity but rather acts on various innate immune cells, including dendritic cells, macrophages, and monocytes, by triggering pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) (Honda-Okubo et al., 2015). The activation of these innate cells leads to enhanced antigen processing and the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, which in turn drive the recruitment and differentiation of adaptive immune cells, such as Th1, Th2, and Th17 T-cells, as well as B-cells for antibody production (Vaxine Pty Ltd, 2023). Advax-3 is primarily utilized in vaccine development to enhance the magnitude and breadth of the immune response against pathogens like influenza, SARS-CoV-2, and malaria, offering a balanced immune profile with a favorable safety record (Petrovsky et al., 2022).

Mechanism of action

Advax-3 functions by activating innate immune cells through pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), which then orchestrate a comprehensive adaptive immune response involving T-cell and B-cell activation.
