Innate Immune Response Pathway

Molecular classification
Pathway
01

Overview

The innate immune response pathway is the body's first line of defense against invading pathogens, providing a rapid and non-specific response to infection. Unlike the adaptive immune system, which tailors its response to specific pathogens, the innate immune system recognizes broadly conserved features of microbes that are not present in host cells. This recognition is mediated by pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), such as Toll-like receptors (TLRs), which detect pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) on microbial surfaces.
