Overview

Inner mitochondrial membrane peptidase subunit 1 pseudogene 1 (IMMP1LP1) is a non-functional genomic sequence classified as a pseudogene located on chromosome 11 (11:63632233-63632720, forward strand). IMMP1LP1 shares sequence homology with the functional gene encoding the inner mitochondrial membrane peptidase subunit 1 but does not code for any functional protein product. While the biological functions of many pseudogenes are increasingly recognized, such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or miRNA decoys, there is no specific evidence that IMMP1LP1 serves these roles or has regulatory significance. Thus, IMMP1LP1 is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or direct therapeutic target.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable for IMMP1LP1 as no drugs directly target it. In principle, targeting of pseudogene transcripts can modulate the regulatory networks if involved in miRNA binding, but this remains hypothetical for IMMP1LP1.

03

Biological functions

No confirmed protein function.Generally, pseudogenes may play non-coding RNA roles, such as regulation of gene expression through competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) mechanisms (e.g., miRNA decoys), but specific data for IMMP1LP1 is lacking
04

Disease associations

No direct, established disease association for IMMP1LP1.In general, pseudogenes can be involved in diseases via: Modulation of the parental gene's expression through RNA-mediated mechanisms.Potential roles in cancer if affecting expression of a gene involved in tumorigenesis (seen in other pseudogenes, but not specifically for IMMP1LP1)
05

Safety considerations

Not applicable. No known therapeutic interventions or safety concerns specific to IMMP1LP1.
06

Interacting drugs

None known. No drugs are known to intentionally target IMMP1LP1
07

Biomarkers

None specific to IMMP1LP1.Some pseudogenes serve as biomarkers in other contexts by reflecting disease-specific expression or alterations
