Inner mitochondrial membrane peptidase subunit 1 pseudogene 1 (IMMP1LP1) is a non-functional genomic sequence classified as a pseudogene located on chromosome 11 (11:63632233-63632720, forward strand). IMMP1LP1 shares sequence homology with the functional gene encoding the inner mitochondrial membrane peptidase subunit 1 but does not code for any functional protein product. While the biological functions of many pseudogenes are increasingly recognized, such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or miRNA decoys, there is no specific evidence that IMMP1LP1 serves these roles or has regulatory significance. Thus, IMMP1LP1 is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or direct therapeutic target.
