Overview

INO80 complex subunit C is a proposed core structural and functional component of the INO80 chromatin remodeling complex, which is required for transcription, DNA replication, and DNA repair[3][4]. This multisubunit complex modulates chromatin structure and plays a critical role in genome stability, proper chromosome segregation, and the prevention of polyploidy[2]. INO80C, also known as IES6 or C18orf37, interacts with other subunits to form a large nucleoprotein complex. Loss or mutation of INO80C disrupts chromatin structure near centromeres, causes missegregation of chromosomes, and leads to genome instability—a feature relevant for cancer biology[2]. No drugs directly target INO80C, nor is it currently used as a clinical biomarker, but its function is fundamental to cellular genomic maintenance[2][3][7].
