INO80 complex subunit E (INO80E, also known as CCDC95 or Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 95) is a component of the multi-protein human INO80 chromatin remodeling complex. The INO80 complex is an ATP-dependent chromatin remodeler, which plays a key role in nucleosome repositioning, transcriptional regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication, and maintenance of genome stability. The complex is essential for the proper positioning of nucleosomes at transcription start sites, and its modular architecture includes over 15 subunits, of which INO80E is one. While specific functional details for INO80E remain less well characterized than for some other subunits, as part of the INO80 complex, it contributes to complex integrity and function in restructuring chromatin[1][2][3]. Clinical and biochemical evidence implicates INO80 complex dysfunction (notably in core ATPase or other critical subunits) in disruptions of chromosome segregation and cancer development, but no drugs or biomarkers are currently linked specifically to INO80E.
